How to add a countdown timer to Resolume

On an LED wall or a projection show the timer often has to live inside Resolume, layered over the content. Hakol Timer arrives as an NDI source with an alpha channel, so you drop it on a layer and it sits on top of everything else with no keying.

1. Turn on NDI in Hakol Timer

  1. Open Settings → NDI and tick NDI output.
  2. Keep Transparent background (alpha) on, so only the digits come through.
  3. Match the Width and Height to your composition if you like (the default is 1920×1080), and raise the Frame rate to 30 for smooth ring or bar styles.

2. Find the source in Resolume

  1. In Resolume Arena or Avenue, open the Sources tab in the browser panel.
  2. Under NDI, find YOUR-COMPUTER (Hakol Timer).
  3. Drag it onto a clip slot on the layer you want, normally the top one, and trigger the clip.

3. Place it

Scale and position the clip with its Transform settings, or use a layer mask to keep the timer in one corner of the wall. The colour changes (green, then orange, then red in overtime) and stage messages all come through with the feed.

4. Run it from the booth

The operator keeps the Hakol Timer window, or a Stream Deck through Companion, and the VJ never has to touch it. The same timer can feed a confidence monitor and phones at the same time.

Frequently asked

Does Resolume see the alpha channel from Hakol Timer?

Yes. With Transparent background (alpha) on, the NDI source arrives with alpha, so it layers over your content without a key.

Which Resolume versions work?

Any Resolume Arena or Avenue version with NDI sources in the Sources tab, on Mac or Windows.

Can the timer run on the Resolume computer?

Yes. It is light enough to run alongside Resolume, or on another computer on the same network.
